Tuesday Ten: I Got Questions

1.  I see some blogrolls that have blogs on them where folks haven't posted in a year.  How long do you keep inactive blogs in your reader or on your blogroll?

2.  Chocolate or Vanilla?

3.  When bloggers you read use "guest' bloggers i.e., it's not their post, do you read?

4.  Cat or Dog or love equally?

5.  Do you read every blog you follow every time they post?

6.  Rice or pasta or potatoes?

7. Do you comment regularly on the blogs you follow?

8.  If I came to visit would you want me to make my famous baked beans now that you know they are fake?

9. Do you think there should be a filter when people write their blogs?  Certain things that probably shouldn't be put out on the world wide web?

10.  Filed under been there, done that: why is it so easy for me to maintain the extra 30 pounds I've been carrying around for a couple of years and not to maintain the lower weight and size I really prefer to be? The size where I feel good?

  1. This is fun Helen, I’d be happy to answer your questions.

    1. It depends, I have one blog in my reader where she hasn’t posted till January but I loved her posts so much that I still keep it in my reader. But mostly around 3 months.
What I also do is when I find a new blog that interests me and this person never takes the time to read or comment on my blog I stop following that blog after a while too. Don't want to invest time in someone that isn't interested in me. That's also the reason I don't follow the "big" bloggers, they usually have to many followers and don't get back to my blog.

    2. Definitely chocolate!

    3. I take a quick look at the post and decide then if I read it. To be honest I don’t care much about guest posts because I read someone’s blog for that person and not for guests. I myself will never host a guest post on my blog.

    4. Definitely dog (can’t be a surprise for you LOL )

    5. I divided the blogs I read in 2 sections, favorite and regularly. The ones in favorite I read every post, the ones in regularly I skip a post every now and then when time is limited. But I try to read every post, that’s why I recently cleaned up my reader.

    6. Pasta first, then rice. Decided last week to give up cooked potatoes, I don’t like them anymore. Will still eat baked potatoes or mashed potatoes from time to time.

    7. A bit the same as number 5. The blogs in my favorite list (guess where you are) I comment to on every post. Usually when I read a post I also comment on it.

    8. Of course I would have your famous baked beans but I would prefer that you make something else for me as I know now how much you dislike making them.

    9. People should write what they want on their blog which doesn’t mean I agree with everything they write. There are some things I would never write about on my blog, for example domestic problems, that’s not fair to the hub in my opinion. Neither will I write about problems at work. I also never use the full names of my friends and family on my blog for their privacy. When I want to post a photo of me and a friend I always ask permission first.

    10. Been there, done that too. To be honest I have no idea since I struggle with the same problem. I maintain the same weight for almost 2 years now and it just seems impossible to lose more. If you know the answer, please let me know.

  2. Oh, overwhelmed...
I can just say vanilla in many cases, but chocolate at times...

  3. Great idea! I keep some blogs in my blogroll for a long time, even if they're infrequent bloggers... especially if I really like the posts. Vanilla ice cream is my favorite; Chocolate cake is my favorite also, so it depends on what the food is; I love dogs; I read most of the blogs in my blogroll regularly, but may not comment on all of them every time (time restrictions); I like pasta and rice equally, depending on they are prepared; I bet my doctored bean recipe is very similar to yours. My brand of choice starts with a "B" and they are delicious after I get through with them. Perhaps some topics should be left off of some blogs. If they contain too much profanity and off-color language, I usually delete them. Such language does nothing for me or for the content of the post. I always respect the privacy of family and friends. And I know what you mean about getting stuck at a certain weight. I have my set points, as well.

    Have a great day!

  4. 1. I don't have a blog roll any more for that very reason.

    2. Vanilla for some things and chocolate for others :-)

    3. Depends.

    4. I love all animals equally, but prefer to have cats as pets.

    5. No.

    6. Rice

    7. Yes, but not every single time.

    8. No, because I hate baked beans.

    9. No. FOS baby!

    10. Can't answer that one!

  5. 1. I admit it. I have blogs on my blogroll that I never read any more. I just need to update it.

    2. Chocolate

    3. I check it out, and sometimes I read it.

    4. DOGS This is when I wish you could maie different fonts and bold in comments LOL.

    5. I try to keep up, but sometimes just get behind. That said, there are a select few that I read EVERY time they post. (WHAT? today's not Wednesday (visitiing Shelley) oh. Go over to Helen's Tuesday Ten--that actually happened this morning.)

    6. I used to be potatoes, pasta, and rice, in that order. Now I am rice definitely. And none of them too frequently any more.

    7. I comment regularly on just a few blogs. Try to comment occasionally on all the others.

    8. No. I want you to make that fabulous pumpkin cake with the pepitas on it!!!!

    9. I just feel bad when I see certain things published that are deeply private, and I know these writers will be very upset should someone in their 'real' life see it.

    10. You have to eat a LOT LESS food to maintain at that lower size. Being that size is a lot more fun, but eating less--not so much fun.

  6. 1. I see some blogrolls that have blogs on them where folks haven't posted in a year. How long do you keep inactive blogs in your reader or on your blogroll?

I don't even pay attention anymore. I've seen so many people come and go. I just read the most current posts.

    2. Chocolate or Vanilla?
Vanilla. Unless it's chocolate with coconut and almonds. Haha!

    3. When bloggers you read use "guest' bloggers i.e., it's not their post, do you read?
    Sometimes. Depends on the subject.

    4. Cat or Dog or love equally?
Cats. But I like dogs, too...but they lose MAJOR points because they drool and sniff my crotch.

    5. Do you read every blog you follow every time they post?
I try to read as much as possible. Coco and Jude don't let that happen.

    6. Rice or pasta or potatoes?
    Potatoes. Oh, Lord: POTATOES.

    7. Do you comment regularly on the blogs you follow?
I do. I try. I've been bad about it recently since I've been super busy.

    8. If I came to visit would you want me to make my famous baked beans now that you know they are fake?
As long as they're vegetarian: yes.

    9. Do you think there should be a filter when people write their blogs? Certain things that probably shouldn't be put out on the world wide web?
Nah. I like honesty. Some of my favorite blogs are written by people who have absolutely NO filter at all. It means they're real. I admire that.

    10. Filed under been there, done that: why is it so easy for me to maintain the extra 30 pounds I've been carrying around for a couple of years and not to maintain the lower weight and size I really prefer to be? The size where I feel good?
Because life happens and we're human. :)

  7. Me love questions!!!
1 - Every few months I clean up my blog roll - omit some, add new ones
2 - Lemon. But some vanilla stuff and some chocolate. Shocking to learn I'm not picky
3 - If it's someone guesting I know, or if sent there b/c another respected blogger deemed it worthy
4 - DOGS over sneeze machines (cats)
5 - No - but there are about ten I ALWAYS read when they post
    6 - Bread
7 - I try to at least every other post or so - usually I want to anyway
8 - Sure - you can come and make anything you like for me to eat :)
9 - No, because my posts would be censored for snarkiness. Free speech, and all that...
10 - If you find the answer to this, please write a post about it and I WILL read it.

  8. I love this post!
    1. If a blogger on my blogroll stops posting frequently, I move them to my reader in hopes that if they post again, I'll see it. I have a strange personal criteria for listing posts on my blogroll, so you won't see any inactive ones. Or too active ones. One post a day is enough, people!

    2. Duh, chocolate!

    3. Rarely. I read blogs because of the blogger behind it. I never get why, when some bloggers go on vacation, they ask for guest posts to fill in. My thought is, we get it, you're on vacation, you'll only be gone a couple of weeks, and we'll be here when you get back. I usually skip the guest posts of bloggers who do that regularly. To me, if it's too much for you to post every day, then don't. You're not going to lose readers if you're not "out there" in front of everyone all the time. Obviously I have a lot of opinions on this...aren't you glad you asked?

    4. Dogs. I know! I have cats. But dogs are the best.

    5. I do read every blog on listed on my blogroll. I skim some in my reader, depending on what the subject is and how busy I am.

    6. Pasta, then potatoes, then rice. What about quinoa? That is pretty high in my ranking - probably above potatoes!

    7. I usually do on the blogs on my blogroll (haha, see a trend here?). The ones in my reader, I comment pretty often.

    8. Nah. I figure you'll be busy showing us how to properly grill a steak, anyway! ;)

    9. Oh lordy, YES. TMI, TMI, TMI. Sometimes I have to quietly click the red X and back away slowly, trying to forget what I've just read!

    10. The age-old riddle. If you ever find the answer to that, please share!

  9. 1. How long do you keep inactive blogs in your reader or on your blogroll?
It's only out of sheer laziness that I haven't updated my blog roll - need to do that soon!

    2. Chocolate or Vanilla? Vanilla!

    3. When bloggers you read use "guest' bloggers i.e., it's not their post, do you read?
    Nope.
    4. Cat or Dog or love equally? I have a dog, so I'll say dogs - I haven't lived with a cat for 25 years - although I know they are much more low maintenance than a dog!

    5. Do you read every blog you follow every time they post? I have about 10 set ones I try to get to every day (yours included!) - but its hard some times. I just don't have the time I used to have - I feel guilty that I don't have time to read everyone's blog who comments on mine. :(

    6. Rice or pasta or potatoes? All three please - preferably with cheese. :D

    7. Do you comment regularly on the blogs you follow? Yep!

    8. If I came to visit would you want me to make my famous baked beans now that you know they are fake? Still yes, I loves the beans!

    9. Do you think there should be a filter when people write their blogs? Certain things that probably shouldn't be put out on the world wide web? I guess the wierdest thing I've read on a blog is about how to cure a yeast infection - I thought that was TMI!

    10. Filed under been there, done that: why is it so easy for me to maintain the extra 30 pounds I've been carrying around for a couple of years and not to maintain the lower weight and size I really prefer to be? The size where I feel good?
Wish I could help you on that one! Hugs!

  10. 1. I keep inactive blogs unless I notice the blog is no longer available. I figure this is a difficult journey and people who lapse do tend to give it another go.

    2. Vanilla if it's ice cream Chocolate otherwise.

    3. I skim guest bloggers but read if the post catches my attention.

    4. I love cats more ... but I do love my dad's dog (he reminds me of great times with dad ... but dogs sure are smelly).

    5. No. There are some that I read every post made and others that I skim per topic.

    6. Only on free day. If it's what I prefer, pasta.

    7. I read many more blogs than I comment upon. Yours for example. I tend not to comment when there are a multitude of comments already present. However, who can resist a list of questions that allows self commentary? :)

    8. Of course.

    9. It's more interesting when they don't but I heavily filter what I make available for the world to read. Work and professional things are heavily filtered. Emotions on the downer side also go through the filter. Sometimes I write an entire post only to delete it. I find therapy in the writing.

    10. I'll have to conquer that demon myself before I can answer this one.

  11. 1. I see some blogrolls that have blogs on them where folks haven't posted in a year. How long do you keep inactive blogs in your reader or on your blogroll?

Two months maxi unless I LOVE the person. I will ping on them before I will delete them.

    2. Chocolate or Vanilla?

Chocolate if I had to choose. Prefer strawberry

    3. When bloggers you read use "guest' bloggers i.e., it's not their post, do you read?

Generally not unless the topic sounds enticing.

    4. Cat or Dog or love equally?

    Dogs RULE Cats Drool!

    5. Do you read every blog you follow every time they post?

No, I do admit to skimming if it looks boring.

    6. Rice or pasta or potatoes?

    Spuds baby!

    7. Do you comment regularly on the blogs you follow?

I try but blogger has been a bugger lately.

    8. If I came to visit would you want me to make my famous baked beans now that you know they are fake?

No, cuz I don't like baked beans. I would have you make a waldorf :)

    9. Do you think there should be a filter when people write their blogs? Certain things that probably shouldn't be put out on the world wide web?

I do but where do you draw that line. I held off on posting about Dave FOREVER out of fear.

    10. Filed under been there, done that: why is it so easy for me to maintain the extra 30 pounds I've been carrying around for a couple of years and not to maintain the lower weight and size I really prefer to be? The size where I feel good?

I don't have an answer here... curious to see what everyone else comes up with.

  12. Let's see. I'm not good about cleaning out my blogroll, but when I do, I usually get rid of those who haven't posted in 3months or so. I like both chocolate and vanilla. I'm a cat person but my hubby hates them so I don't have one. I read most posts, even guests. I'm not a huge rice person. I guess it would be pasta although i don't eat any of these much anymore. I comment a lot if I have something to input. I always enjoy it when someone else cooks, real or no. I don't think there should be a filter because we all have different ideas about what is appropriate. I wish I had answers on your maintaining higher than you wish. I'm still trying to get close to my goal weight.

  13. Hi Helen, I love question days like this. Here are my answers.

    1) Tough one, usually a couple of months, then they're deleted. Makes me sad when some of the bloggers I like just "vanish" with no warning. Just hope they're ok!!

    2) Vanilla over chocolate all the way! (does that make me boringly vanilla?)

    3) Yup, I read guest bloggers. I've found a couple of new blogs I follow regularly that way.

    4) Love both cats and dogs, and had dogs growing up, but I have a cat now (who I adore) and can't imagine my home without a feline presence. Ever...

    5) I skim if the post isn't really of interest to me, or if it's a whole lotta text...sometimes my eyes glaze over a bit..and to clarify, that has NEVER been the case on your blog Helen!! Seriously....love your posts.

    6) Rice, pasta or potatos? Yes please! Never met a carb I didn't like!

    7) Absolutely. I love commenting on people's blogs, and love when they comment on mine.

    8) Yes please, bring on the beans!!!! Should I grill some ribs on the side?

    9) The way I see it, people's blogs are theirs and they are a personal journal, so they can write about whatever they want. That said, I don't think its NECESSARY to include deeply personal details as they don't particularly interest many readers. (TMI examples I've seen are when they last had sex, how much money they earn/owe, gorey details on an illness etc.) To me, it just seems to be published to sensationalize their post. In those instances, I've just stopped reading. But, I'm all for free speech, so type and TMI away, I just won't be following.

    10) If there is an answer to this one, alert the media 'cause that'll be front page news!!
(Hang in there Helen, you are beautiful inside and out today, will be tomorrow and were 30 lbs ago too!)

    Have a good day!!

  14. 1. I don't use a blog roll since I use google reader and I just never see those blogs again if they don't post.

    2. Twist.

    3. I will usually read, but it has to catch my attention right away.

    4. Cats! I would be a crazy cat lady if I wasn't married to John.

    5. I do a lot of skimming, except for those that are favorited.

    6. Rice or pasta or potatoes? - Ummm... all of the above?

    7. There are some blogs I almost never miss commenting on. There are a lot I skim, but don't comment on.

    8. I don't like baked beans, so you don't have to bring them. Lucky you!

    9. No filter. Freedom of speech and all that.

    10. We need to find an answer to this because we could become millionaires. Same boat here.

  16. Loving the questions and the answers!

    1. I clean my blogroll infrequently, but I just did a big sweep (after reading this question, actually!). I kept inactive blogs of people I have a bond with online, or who I miss and hope return. But I cleaned out any where I didn't even remember who they were.

    2. Chocolate, of course!

    3. I skim because it's on my Reader, but I don't really care much. It's okay if you take a break, I will still read you when you return!

    4. Cats, but my husband is a dog person. I suspect we will have one within the year.

    5. Yep. I also open tabs for those I want to reply to, then shoot through all of those in clump. As you may have noticed, LOL.

    6. I am a good Polish girl, don't take my potatoes away from me!!

    7. See #5. But I don't comment on all the blogs I follow. It depends on if I have anything to add.

    8. Hell, yes.

    9. I write a pretty personal blog so I feel like I can't throw stones, but yeah, there should be some sense of privacy/decorum.

    10. Man, NO KIDDING.

    3. When bloggers you read use "guest' bloggers i.e., it's not their post, do you read? No

    4. Cat or Dog or love equally? Dogs. Cats are far too intelligent for me.

    5. Do you read every blog you follow every time they post? No. well, not yours- always read it..

    6. Rice or pasta or potatoes? Pasta, amore!

    7. Do you comment regularly on the blogs you follow? No.

    8. If I came to visit would you want me to make my famous baked beans now that you know they are fake? Yes. I love Bean's.

    10. Filed under been there, done that: why is it so easy for me to maintain the extra 30 pounds I've been carrying around for a couple of years and not to maintain the lower weight and size I really prefer to be? The size where I feel good? Food tastes good.
